PAUL & HENRY'S 60th
We celebrated these birthdays in late January of 2001, kidnapping these fellows
and taking them to Frankfurt, Germany where we had a lavish few days with exceptional
wines and foods, thanks to our friends Norbert & Gaby.
Here they are, getting in line to check in for the flight.
Here we are, in Germany a dozen hours (or so) later, having Black Beer and White Sausages
(well, some of us had the Black beer).
Afterwards we had a stroll, to burn off some calories, in
Seligenstadt, an old town near Frankfurt.
It's a great little town, with curious buildings and an old
Roman aquaduct...not to mention the old ferry boat which takes people and cars across the
small river (more of a stream) at the edge of town.
We returned to our friend's house and had a magnificent dinner,
including a tasting of some dry German Rieslings.
Dinner was, as usual, excellent!
Here's Norbert taking care of sawing up the main course.
Here's the main course with two wonderful bottles of Rhone
wines...A Guigal and Cave de Chante-Perdrix.
Here's Famous Eva Block with the baked apples for dessert.
Here's Alexia and one of the birthday boys (guy on the right)
blowing up balloons for the party the next day.
Alexia uses these balloons to her advantage.
