LUNCH AVEC LA FAMILLE CASSOT

After tasting the range of wines at La Coustarelle,
the Cassot family invited us to have lunch with them in a little, very typical,
off-the-beaten-path restaurant not too far from the winery.
We drove to a place you won't find in the guidebooks...it's not a tourist stop
and only the locals know the place.
Café-Restaurant de la
Terrasse
It's in the town of Grézels...7 kilometers from Prayssac, 35
kilometers from beautiful downtown Cahors.

Here's the menu...16 Euros a few years ago...I understand the
price has skyrocketed to 18 Euros.

Soup, Hors d'oeuvres, Meat-Vegetables and Salad, Cheeses and Dessert.
It's an informal, comfortable dining room.

Your meal comes with wine...but the Cassots brought their own.

A huge tureen of soup is brought to the table...

Naturally, the American fellow with whom I traveled was
less-than-elegant at the table.

This probably explains why the restaurant is not in the Michelin Guide!
The "hors d'oeuvres" was a platter of
fresh-from-the-oven Quiche.

The main course, "meat" on the menu, was a stunning
platter of duck festooned with oven-roasted potatoes.

A cheese board was then brought to our table...

And, then dessert.

A big "Merci" to the Cassot family for a wonderful and very memorable
lunch!
