A LAZY SUNDAY IN THE CITY

It was a warm summer day (in MAY!) in San Francisco and everybody was out and
about.

The Ferry Building was on the radar today, having been in
North Beach earlier...

Jesper immediately got in line at the Acme Bread store.
They're more than up to their elbows in cheese next door at the Cowgirl
Creamery...

We walked around looking for a suitable place for some
vino. The Ferry Plaza Wine Merchant tasting area is always packed, but
their selections are usually made with an eye towards obscurity rather than
quality.
We stopped at the Hog Island Oyster bar...

This small area is also always packed...we had to wait, but not too long...
We ordered a bottle of Cheverny, a crisp, minerally Sauvignon Blanc-based Loire
Valley white. It's perfect for oysters!

The master shucker has a quiet moment...

We ordered a mixed dozen oysters...very fresh and perfect with the Cheverny.
The baby Manila clams in a wheat beer and butter 'broth' were exceptional.

We poked around the Ferry Building for a while longer
before heading south to Burlingame.

We thought this may be a nice little itinerary for late in
the summer when our pals Gaby and Norbert arrive in San Francisco after their
Canadian adventure.
