Following one of our degustation events, Alexia and Henry
invited the crew over for dinner.
Marjorie especially likes the pt!
We enjoyed a bottle of Cattier's Brut Champagne and followed it with a bottle of
their special "Clos du Moulin" Champagne.
Two pretty flowers.
Bob was sitting in a particularly curious chair...
...before sliding off and needing help "up".
Meanwhile, the Kitchen Crew was hard at work!
Alexia had some Butternut Squash Ravioli for us.
We had two lovely Italian white wines:
Isole e Olena 2001 Chardonnay (lovely oak, toasty, dry) and an aromatic, flowery
Sportoletti 2002 Grechetto from Umbria.
Meanwhile, out on the grill were some ducks:
We had two Isole e Olena red wines:
2000 Syrah and 1999 Cabernet Sauvignon. Both wines were good, but the
Syrah is not as stellar as that winery has made in some previous vintages.
The Cabernet was nice, too, but not off-the-charts great.
The duck and Alexia's risotto, on the other hand, were terrific.
Henry offers some of the wonderful sauce to Marjorie.
Alexia prepared a wonderful fruit Galette for dessert and this was paired with a
fresh bottle of Bonny Doon's "Ca del Solo" Freisa.
