We began with a bottle of Bellavista's lovely Franciacorta sparkling wine and
Bob offered some nibbles.
Alexia loves bubbles.
Meanwhile, a platter of seasoned rabbit was ready for the grill.
Marjorie admits she's seen some wrascally wabbits in her day.
Some veggies are ready for the grill, too.
I think most of these are courtesy of Jonathan & Lucy Tolmach.
Bob's first course was a trio of melons with some Prosciutto di Parma.
The Germano 2002 "Binel" was excellent with this starter course.
Also exceptional was the Colle Stefano 2003 Verdicchio.
Marjorie enjoyed the sweetness of the various melons and the tangy acidity of
the white wines.
Bob managed to grill everything without the aid of the San Bruno fire
We opened three 1999 vintage Tuscan Sangioveses.
The Selvapiana 1999 "Bucherciale" was good, but not as exceptional, in
my view, as it had been in previous vintages.
The 1999 Monsanto "Il Poggio" Chianti Classico was very good.
The best of the trio was Poliziano's 1999 Vino Nobile "Asinone"
Henry lends a hand in serving.
Bob's dessert is a platter of eight different blue cheeses.
Wine geek and sales rep Eric Entriken hasn't seen this much blue cheese since
his excursion with importer Charles Neal in France.
