We began with a couple of different sparkling Prosecco wines and lively
The Kitchen of Attilia Lombardi, viewed through a glass of bubbly.
With a name like Lombardy, you shouldn't be surprised that she makes a great pot
The "chef de cuisine" serves up polenta, wild mushrooms and braised
ribs...definitely "soul food."
A couple of top Spanish reds were paired with this lovely dish.
The Alion 1997 seems less oaky than in previous vintages, but still a good
wine. The Guelbenzu Evo is outstanding!
That bottle's contents disappeared in a hurry, so Karen took care of that
Phoebe, upon hearing these were exceptionally good vintages, decided to join in
Poached Pears for dessert!

after our 1997 Cabernet Tasting
Salad Greens to go Under Bob's "Ceviche"
We tried a couple of Sauvignon Blanc wines...a Quincy from a small grower in the
Loire was perfectly pleasant, but overshadowed by the Torres
"Fransola" 1999 from Spain.
Marjorie enjoyed both the victuals and vino!
The main course was Roast Beast with Yorkshire Pudding and Brussels Sprouts.
We had the 1998 Phelan-Segur which showed nicely, a supple, lightly oaked
Bordeaux. The second label of Chteau Haut-Brion, Bahans Haut-Brion was
nice, but not especially stellar.
Mouton-Rothschild's second wine is Le Petit Mouton and this did not live up to
our expectations. Nothing "wrong" with the wine, it merely was
"good" but no better.
Stilton cheese and a glass of 1964 Graham's Malvedos Vintage Port completed the
