The Obester's Annual Whale-Watching & Pizza Party
April 2005

Some of these folks actually seem like they know what they're doing.

And into the oven they go!

The inferno was ablaze!

Ecco!

Meanwhile, Paul was still busy selling Albondigas.

Frank then got busy, instructing Jesper about the proper qualities of pizza dough.

He then took over, starting to assemble a pizza.

Finalmente, la pizza e pronto per il forno!

Two "pizzaoli".

Frank is, obviously, excited by the prospects of pizza being ready in a few moments.

And...here it is!  Pizza di Francesco!!!

Every so often someone would yell out "Whale!"

And all eyes were on the ocean and the beneath-the-sea creatures.
This allowed sharks at the party to prowl the food tables for their prey!

Frank's Pizza.

We knew Mario Gemello was a good winemaker...

We had no idea he was capable of making food to go with the splendid 1972 Zinfandel he brought.

The whole bunch of Gemello's gets involved in this project.

Mario knows wine bottles are subject to the forces of gravity...
Here he's seen testing the same forces on the pizza.

Meanwhile, Lucy and Frank are busy.

Next, Marjorie's helper Maria took over the pizza board.

Maria was very artistic in her rendition of pizza.

Anchovies are much appreciated by the whales, but also by many of the pizza eaters in the crowd.

Cliff was giving Maria some guidance in her pizza production and she cast an eye toward him before heading for the oven.

Tandy was then next contestant in the pizza marathon.

"One more smart remark from you and I'll be asking 'What do you want on your tombstone!'"

The hands of a pizza artista!

Meanwhile, Paul, having sold virtually all his meatballs, was now hawking ribs.

And finding "customers"!

Maria's pizza was now out of the oven and ready to slice.

Meanwhile, back at the oven...Tandy was all fired up.

Marjorie, meanwhile, was watching for whales and enjoying the Pizza di Maria.

Success!

Meanwhile...

The sun was shining inside and outside of the glass.

Miraculously, nobody lost a finger during the pizza-slicing ceremonies.

Cliff then got behind the "wheel" and chauffeured a pizza into the nearby oven.

Maria helped with this photo of "Cleeef."

Maria, Whisper and Cleef.

Jesper then began working on a "grape pizza."

Strange pizza.

Meanwhile, we needed some music...

Bo knows the accordion.

Cliff, who's also a musician, provided the percussion for a duet by snoring in time with Bo's music.

Henry and Alexia Moore.
Nobody saw either of them.

Whale Watching Supplies.

Meanwhile, the search continues.

Hair...the haves and have-nots.

They're out there...somewhere!

Jesper The Viking, Jonathan and Lucy.

And so...all the pizzas were made and eaten, the wine consumed and the whales watched.
We then made tracks back over the hill.

Many thanks to Paul and Sandy and crew for such a fantastic party!!!
