THE ANNUAL WHALE-OF-A-PIZZA FEST
Obesters By The Sea
April 22, 2007

On a beautiful Spring Sunday we loaded up the wagon and motored out to Pescadero for the annual whale-watching, pizza-making fest hosted by Paul & Sandy Obester.

The oven was fired up and so were the guests!

There were many pizza toppings at the ready...

And Paul had been busy baking bread earlier in the day...

And Sandy and Paul had everything pretty much wrapped up before we arrived...

Sandy always puts on a nice spread.

Meanwhile, the young sommelier was busy opening some bottles.

The kitchen was busy, with some people building their own pizzas.

Carmen, The Crazy Calabrese (and expert pizzaiolo) shows off his homemade salumi.

"Paul, only cut the pizza into 8 pieces...I don't think I can eat 12."

Meanwhile, Jonathan took the chair lift for a test ride...

"How the hell does this thing work?"

Soon Tumbelina FitzJensen came riding up the stairs.

"I can smell there are wine bottles open!"

"Well, this isn't quite like making pottery!" Sally told us.

A few minutes later:

Pizza making can be a family affair!

Sandy made some little polenta squares topped with bacon!
Where was Henry!  ???

Ready for the oven!

But we had to wait a moment while some additional wood was added to the fire...

Meanwhile, David Obester was serenading his Grandma with a little accordion music.

Others were busy indulging in good food!

These two were trying to keep a low profile...

Paul, meanwhile, was winging it in the kitchen...

Carmen got busy and started making some pizzas...

Say Cheese!
"Not now!  I'm busy!"

David put down the accordion to have a sip of Tolmach Pilsner.

Ellen enjoys a slice and a sip.

Jonathan was giving folks a hand with the pizza baking business.

A couple of old pros.

Pizza with Pineapple.

Pizzas were flying in and out of the oven...

Brian's pizza came out of the oven, nearly as tall as he is!

Meanwhile, Granny was having a blast making her own pizza.

"Stand back Grandma...I don't want this to wind up as your new hat!"

Jesper shows off a frisbee.

"Make one that tastes like this!"

Eyes as big as pizzas!

"Damn that looks good!"

Meanwhile, one fellow damned near 'flashed' Sandy....

Meanwhile, Brian went down to the beach...

My First Pizza Party!

You can tell a lot about someone by watching what they put on their pizza!

Bob was busy!

There's no place like dome!

"Ecco!"

Amy dialed up 1-800-JESPER for her personalized pizza.

"Hey Mister!  I heard there's pizza here!"

Say "Cheese!"

Amy jumped up when she heard Paul had ribs in the oven!

Many thanks to Sandy and Paul for another great party!!!

We didn't see any whales, but we had a whale of a good time!
