ALEXIA & HENRY
After a busy few days before the holiday, we ventured to
Chateau Moore for a nice little Thanksgiving celebration.
Henry opened a bottle of Roederer Estate Brut which was quite good.
Tom and Manuel.
Ellen and Tom
Alexia made a nice soup of butternut squash which was delicious!
Karen Work took care of preparing the first course...a
salad featuring grilled radicchio...
Karen added some pine nuts and, I think, some green
And then the salad was garnished with some slices of
This was a lovely combination of flavors.
We then went to the dining room...
Brian lit the candles and Henry poured the wines...a couple
of "Rhone-styled" white blends.
Brian, Alexia and part of Henry Work.
We had two "Rhone-styled" blends with the salad...

Henry Moore, meanwhile, had the Thanksgiving turkey out in the smoker...
Henry Work opened a lovely magnum of Havens Merlot.
1993 "Reserve" Napa Merlot.
Henry Moore was busy carving the turkey.
Alexia made some over-roasted sweet potatoes and
oven-roasted parsnips...Henry 'caught' some mushrooms for a nice sauce to go on
There was also a nice, fresh cranberry sauce and some green beans.
There was a cheese course following and Henry Work decanted a 1992 Oregon Pinot
Noir from the Ici/La Bas label.
This was delightful and showing marvelously.
I brought a bottle of Burgundy...
Brian was interested to try the La Tche.
So were the others...
Dessert was apple pie & ice cream.
And we had two nice sweet wines...
...A marvelous "Late Work" from Karen & Henry's 2002 vintage and a
2005 Husch Late-Harvest Sauvignon Blanc.
No contest...the Work out-worked the Husch.
Brian was busy...
Many thanks to Alexia and Henry for hosting such a lovely
