TUESDAY NIGHT DINNER
On a rather cold winter evening, I trekked to the home of Jonathan and
Lucy (she was away, nursing a relative back to good health) and found the famous
wine salesman Bruce Flatow, cleaning fungus and slicing amputating digits.
These were freshly "caught," too!
Adam, who makes Ojai Vineyard wines which often appeal, had been peeling
And Jonathan had baked some breads...
We had a sip of Jonathan's home brew along with a taste of
some local sushi.
And we tasted a line-up of Adam's wines and some
"research" bottles I brought along.
Bruce had to check his MySpace page with what fingers
"Oh look! Dee-Voh commented on her status as a Wine Diva!"
Jonathan set about pan-roasting the pork chops...
...and there was a pot of veggies on the stove and a pan of potatoes and
mushrooms in the oven.
A while later Bruce took care of plating the meal.
The cats were keeping an eye on us out in the dining room.
Famous Eno-Celebrity, Adam Tolmach
Jonathan pours a sip of Cornas...Franck Balthazar, 2007. Quite good, if a
bit young...seemed to have good potential.
Adam's 2006 Syrah from the Presidio vineyard was especially good.
And as it was getting a bit late and it was, after all, a
school night, we departed and made tracks for home!
Many thanks to Adam, Bruce and Jonathan for the hospitality!
