WHALE WATCHING & PIZZA-MAKING SUNDAY
Lots of photos, so you might be able to bake a pizza before
this page finishes loading!
It was a moderately gray day when we drove to
The Obester's By The Sea for this annual fest.
Paul had fired up the pizza oven and they were blasting delicious mushrooms
stuffed with sausage.
Meanwhile the buffet table featured some lovely "purses" and
Viet-styled Spring Rolls.
Sandy has a huge platter of veggies, too.
In addition to some lovely white wines, there was an amazing array of old
Obester and Gemello wines:
Gemello 1968 Cabernet
Gemello 1976 Petite Sirah
Gemello 1970 Zinfandel
and bottles of Obester 1984 Cabernet along with other library bottles.
Meanwhile the whale watching was on.
Paul served copious quantities of ribs, too.
Sandy is looking for whales.
Meanwhile Whisper Fitz-Jensen was busy in the kitchen, tossing dough around for
Our youngest "pizzaiola" built the first pizza.
Winemaker Mario Gemello is in even better shape than his 1968 Cabernet!
Meanwhile, the first pizza was now ready!
So the Twin Sisters got busy and designed a pizza.
Hey! This is pretty good!
Next Amy constructed a Vegetarian Pizza.
You might get thrown out of Italy for making a Peanut Butter & Jelly Pizza!
I was impressed that there were some "customers" for this Mondo Nuovo
You can't leave yet! We've got more pizzas to fire in the oven!
The sun was bright late in the afternoon. I never did see a whale, though
others claimed to have seen them.
Must have been a fluke.
Might have been the wine.
Jesper was still by the oven, baking pizzas!
The pelicans must have gotten a whiff of the pizza aromas for the came by to
have a look.
Or, perhaps it was the old Gemello bottles that caught their eyes?
Finally it was time to go!
Besides, we'd run out of pizza dough!
A big Thanks to Paul & Sandy for a lovely, relaxing Sunday!
