I arrived in Frankfurt and the welcoming committee, Norbert Auth and Matthias
Wooge, took me immediately to the Rheinpfalz for a tasting at Weingut Knipser.
We spent a couple of hours here tasting all sorts of wines!
Matthias Wooge, one of Neu-Isenburg's leading wine authorities.
We then drove to visit Alexander Gysler, one of the leading "up and
coming" winemakers in Europe. His Rieslings are uniformly good.
Dinner at SCHLOSS AUTH in RodgAUTH:
Gaby prepared an excellent "Choucroute," using meats from the nearby
"Hiller" metzgerei. She incorporated some exotic spices into the
sauerkraut, creating a marvelously flavorful dish!
Gaby and Norbert Auth.
The next day we had "work" to do. The Rodgau wine tasting team
was assembling for a blind-tasting and some American steaks!
Norbert and I trekked to Frankfurt to procure some supplies. The
Kleinmarkthalle is always a favorite stop as it features many varied vendors
with outstanding foods.
You never know what advice you might find as you cruise through town!
Spend more time naked!
Back in Rodgau, Norbert went to the cellar to select some bottles to drink with
dinner after the tasting.
The evening began with Norbert pouring a magnum of 1993 Riesling from the
Hessiche Bergstrasse, while Gaby prepared the wines for the blind-tasting.
