PISCO
Pisco is said to have originated in Peru.
The word "pisco" comes from the Quechua language and means
"bird." In Peru there are many villages with the word pisco as
part of the name:
Piascobanba=fields of birds
Piscohuasi=house of birds
The natives in Peru were also known as "piskos" and it seems
they were rather handy as crafting ceramic jugs which they coated with
beeswax. These were ideal for storing alcohol and the Spanish settlers
called these "piscos."
Chile and Peru are major sources of Pisco. The product is distilled from
Muscat grapes, approximately an Italian "grappa" of Moscato.
You can decide which region makes the best.

Cachaça
This
is a "firewater" which Brazilians regard as their national

This is distilled from cane sugar. Some of these distillates are aged in
wood. Essentially, cachaça is the Brazilian version of rum.
