Wine Magazine's Label Request Order Form
You're the owner of a winery or the importer of some wines...
You've submitted a couple of sample bottles to some publication, hoping for a
favorable review.
They taste your wines and say they've been objective in tasting.
Then you receive this document (posted below, with the name changed to protect
the enthusiastic journal), allowing you to embellish their reviews by paying
them to have your wine's label published with their review of your wine.
Few consumers give this any thought, thinking the labels are merely highlights
of the wines being evaluated.
Although I'll bet the publication will claim they taste objectively, one
might imagine the tasting panel assessing the wines has a vested interest in
giving good numerical scores and high ratings to wines.
This will encourage more vintners to advertise and have their labels exposed to
readers (who pay $29.95 for a snail mail subscription to the publication or
$12.99 for on-line readers)...
Anyway, that's how this particular company pays the rent...
We're just sayin'....
