I had to board an airplane to make this party...

Everything was ready and soon the guests would arrive.

Uli Bauer.

Rochet Bocart 2002...very nice. Dry and pleasantly
yeasty...

Everything tastes better with bacon.
And soon it was time to head for the dinner table so begin the serious part of
the festivities...

Norbert was pleased to open a couple of Lackner Tinnacher
wines from Austria's Südsteiermark region...a 2008 Sauvignon Blanc and a 2009
Gelber Muskateller.

The Prosciutto was a delight accompanied by the white asparagus....

The accompanying plate was right out of a Michelin-starred restaurant, no?

Jurgen was amused when Norbert sang out "This may need
salt and pepper!"

And then a magnum of Murrieta 1995.

Back in the kitchen, though, things were hopping...

Lamb tenderloins with a confetti of vegetables and a slice of a potato cake.
Norbert was busy saucing the dishes...

And Claus and Jurgen were hitting the sauce...

Another bit of culinary artistry...

As we drank that magnum dry, Norbert had a nice bottle of 1985
Rioja waiting in the wings.

Even the Kleine Madchen was interested to have a schluck on a wine which is
older than is she.

The 1995 Murrieta was showing well, a nice, smooth, mildly
woodsy Rioja.
The 1985 CUNE was leathery, lightly earthy with some oaky tones...quite smooth
and dry...very elegant.

Dessert!

And soon all the glasses and espresso cups were empty...

And then it was Adios Alles!

Many thanks to the whole gang for coming to the party...and even bigger thanks
to Gaby and Norbert for preparing such a grand meal with so many lovely bottles
of good wine!
