Saturday morning the judges gather in the morning to prepare for a day full of
Rachel & Ron were ready right from the start.
Tim McDonald was ready from the get-go!
The judges had their hands full on this Saturday.
In no particular order....here are some Saturday photos...
Nick Ponomareff, Kimberly Charles and Tim Marson.
George Skorka, Valery Uhl, Dana Farner and Tim McNally
Dana Farner, stylin'!
George Skorka and Dr. Valery.
His manicure earlier in the day was a good one.
Hard to see Tim McNally's Saturday morning manicure.

Chris Sommyer, Michele La Cravatta (his mafia name) and Lars
Michael, Rachel and Mark
In a race to finish tasting, they're all "tied."
Fred, Heidi and Ted
Heidi Peterson Barrett has a good hand with Cabernet Sauvignon...
She likes her Cabernets with just a kiss of oak.
Bill, Tim and Ziggy...a well-lit tasting panel!
Drake, Izzo, Tony Soprano and Shelley
Two-Fisted Steve Izzo
Don Carlo Mara
Shelley is said to be A-OK with everybody!
Panel N--Cassandra, Sean and Dan
Eduardo, Jim, Wendy and Rowald
Mrs. Jones saw all the two-legged creatures putting on costume ties and such so
she insisted on wearing a tie.
Brian, Mrs. Jones, Ian and Jeffrey
Mrs. Jones doesn't seem nearly as traumatized as her Mr. Blackburn.
"No, I'm good," she told us.
Brian Baker, meanwhile, mentioned he had his hands full.
Ron, Sarah, Traci and Wilfred
Phil, Tonya, Andy and Gillian
Leslie, Ron and Stacie
Now that's The Hosemaster!
Three Dudes...Michael, Joe and Jim
All hell broke loose when Dottie showed up...
Gerald, Virginie, Liz and Jim
We were still tasting...
Identity crisis, apparently.
A big THANK YOU To the Volunteers for our
tasters, Panel O.
That's either the letter "O" or the number Zero.
Mike Totah, Lynn Turner, Arlo Lobascio and Mari Paul.
It's remarkable that Lynn can handle washing all those wine
glasses with such hands!
Others were still tasting deep into Saturday afternoon.
Cassandra is as proficient as the two old-timers!
You can tell what Kimberly is thinking:
"I've got my eye on you!"
Hugo said he'd like a sniff and a taste.
George brought out his tastevin.
One of our favorite Volunteers was befuddled by the results of
a flight apparently.
Duncan seems equally perplexed.
Some Random Snapshots...
I routinely bring some beer to celebrate finishing our
We gather the Volunteers together and raise a glass!
We're not sure what occurred at this table, but it doesn't
Dan Berger said "This wine tastes funny. I guess it was made by
Spitting Stamps of Kevin and Tim.
Meanwhile, over on Chestnut Street in The City...
Lady Judges on TV
Down in Dogpatch there was a building with Tim McDonald
showing off the latest acquisition to his
collection of PEZ dispensers.
Esquire magazine did a Piece on The Hosemaster of Wine, Ron
This coincided with the wine competition...
Not to be outdone, Vogue Magazine had an article about Liz and Rachel...
Nick Ponomareff was profiled in a new publication, Wine Geeks Monthly...
Dan Berger made the cover of a French publication as it's been
rumored he'll be in the starring role of the next Superman movie.
Who knew Superman wears glasses?
Some people attended a screening at the Alamo Drafthouse
of a new film about wine.
Joe Roberts was describing his ideas of wine-tasting techniques.
As there can be numerous "Double Golds" that have
been entered into the Sweepstakes Tasting on Sunday, some special panels are
asked to taste through various selections and pick the best or top two in a
This is helpful as otherwise we might have 150 wines to evaluate on Sunday...
Hugo and Mrs. Jones held a discussion about a flight of wines.
It appears as though Linda is questioning how this wine got a Double Gold...
Dan Opperman, one of the old-timer Volunteers
And so by now the number of entries into Sunday's "Best
Of the Best" tasting is a bit more manageable.
With that, many of the judges get a bit of rest before heading out on the town.
Sunday morning the judges convene to determine the best of the best.
There was much work to do.
Sparkling wines and whites...
The judges selected a place to sit and soon we were busy.
As we taste the wine, Andy asks the judges to vote on wines
they think are the best.
Several volunteers tabulate the votes.
Once that flight is completed, we step outside for the tables
to be reset.
And then it's back to work!
And the winners are...
And then the volunteers took care of clearing the tables...
